Equity and Inclusion in Housing and Design

In 2024, the Lab is embarking on a new research project entitled “Centering Equity in the Inclusive Design of Housing: Co-Designing with People Living with Disabilities” or “Equity and Inclusion in Housing Project” (EIHD). We aim to establish best practices for including people living with disabilities in the design processes of accessible housing.

For more information, read our recent blog post, and check back to this page for updates about our progress and reflections by project team members.

The project team stands in a group and smiles at the camera. A screen with the words “Co-Creating an Equity-Centered Approach to the Design of Inclusive Housing in Alberta” glows behind them. From left to right, the people standing are Lara Pinchbeck (University of Alberta), Mark Iantkow (Radical Inclusion), Bon Swanson (University of Alberta), Jonathan Rockliff (RPK Architects), Adam Arsenault (No Limits Collective), Zachary Weeks (accessibility consultant), Sam Mason (Voices of Albertans with Disabilities), and Joshua Evans (University of Alberta).

EIHD is sponsored by the Alberta Real Estate Foundation.
